BUS 3545: Business and Society in Cuba

Cost 

  • ​The cost of $2950 includes airfare, local transportation, lodging , group activities and most meals. 

  • No additional cost for tuition if you are full-time in the fall.

  • The Walker College of Business offers a limited number of undergraduate scholarships to assist students with the cost. For MBA students, contact Donna Lindabury for information on scholarships.

Course: BUS 3545: Business and Society in Cuba


Credit hours:  BUS 3545 fulfills 3 sh of IB major or approved electives, HOS elective, and upper-level COB elective credit.
 

Learning Goals: You will observe first-hand the Cuban economic system and the effect of the US embargo on this system, contextualized by regional historical and cultural background.

​Itinerary

 

Dates: October 11-18, 2014

Spend five days in Havana a day in Playa Giron and a day in Matanzas.

In Havana, attend lectures at the University of Havana, visit historic old Havana, peruse the Revolution museum, shop at city farmer’s markets, tour an agricultural cooperative, among other activities.



In Playa Giron, explore the Bay of Pigs, sustainable initiatives in the Zapata wetlands, and the artist community of Korimakao.
