TESTIMONIALS

“The best part of our trip was the warmth and hospitality of the Cuban people.  People from our hotel receptionists, to waiters, to people on the street all asked if we enjoyed Cuba, if we were well fed and if everyone had treated us well.  We experienced the rich history of Havana and the beauty of the Cuban country side.  Every day was an adventure.”

Bradley K. Oxford, MBA Student, Appalachian State University

“The relationship with Cuba as it stands is going to change eventually. If our students are familiar with Cuba, they will be a step ahead of everybody else when that change starts occurring.”

Martin Meznar, Associate Dean of International Programs, Walker College of Business

in place that will allow you to pay for the cost of the program. If you have true financial need, there are some options.
Walker College International Scholarships:  All applicants must be undergraduates who have applied to a WCOB International Study Abroad program. Scholarships for short-term, faculty-led programs range from $100 to $1,000. They will be considered for all of the scholarships for which they are eligible. Click here for application and information.

OIED International Scholarships:  Any full-time degree-seeking student at Appalachian who is applying to an approved study abroad program offering academic credit is eligible to apply for these scholarships. Individual scholarships will vary but will not exceed $1500. Click here for application and information.

Financial Aid: Faculty-led study abroad programs are eligible for financial aid, if you meet requirements. Your awarded amount may be increased, however this is usually in the form of student loans. You must have turned in a FAFSA for the academic year when you plan to participate. It is strongly recommended that you meet with your Financial Aid advisor to discuss your financial aid eligibility prior to applying to the program. Click here for information.
