Program Cost

Cost: $3850
  • Cost includes airfare, local transportation, lodging , a safari drive, group activities and most meals.

  • ASummer tuition for 6 semester hours is $792 + fees.

  • The Walker College of Business offers a limited number of scholarships to assist students with the cost.

Courses:

MGT 3543 Social Entrepreneurship in Malawi

&

SD 3535 Reading Sustainable Development in Malawi

 

Learning Goals: Learn about the economic, social and environmental challenges Malawians face and the ways that entrepreneurs, NGOS, the government and communities are attempting to address them as well as the importance of sustainability in this process. Learn about non-profit management.

 

Credit Hours: 6 semester hours. MGT 3543 fulfills a MGT-GEN or MGT-ENT* elective, HOS elective, IB major/approved/required/other elective or a COB/UL elective course credit. SD 3535 fulfills an IB approved/required elective credit as well as an UL outside the COB elective credit. This program fulfills the global issues requirement. Students must take both courses.

Visit NGO, government and community-based projects near Lilongwe focused on addressing environmental and social issues.

Visit Wimbe village, home of the author of “The Boy  Who Harnessed the Wind." Learn about the pottery production in Dedze.

 

Experience the culture of Malawi firsthand during a short homestay at Mchezi.

Enjoy the natural beauty of the region at Lake Malawi.

Go on safari in South Luangwa National Park in Zambia.
